The Outreach

What is it?

The outreach is what we sometimes term the practical phase. This is the part of the school where you go to other places to put into practice all of the things that you have learned. The outreach is normally one block of two months although at times it can be broken into two blocks of one month each.

Teaching workshops on the outreach

Now it’s your turn to teach others such as this workshop

For many students, this is the most impacting part of the school, and everyone returns with stories of how God worked with them during this time. Some stories are amazing and include such things as miracles of healing or provision from God.

Where Will We Go?

The answer to this question depends a lot on each school. We create different outreach groups depending on how many students are in the school. Each group will have one or more leaders and will go to a different destination, whether it be another part of Argentina, another country in Latin America or another part of the world. Sometimes the outreach groups travel to more than one country.

Some of the points that we consider in our decisions about where a group will go for their outreach includes: level of growth during the school, maturity (spiritual and emotional), economical situations and the level of faith in each group, and the contacts that we have and their needs.

Teams have gone to Chiclayo, Perú

If a contact would like a team for only one week, it generally does not make sense to travel to such a distant country without having some other contacts in the same place. We recognise that at times God will challenge us to go to distant places with or without contacts and/or money, and if it is of God then we do it.

We have sent teams to Chile, Bolivia, Peru, y Brazil. Now we are planning to send teams to Colombia, Ecuador, and El Salvador in Central America, with further plans towards countries in Europe, Africa and Asia.

The school starting in June 2007 is likely to focus on areas within Argentina during their outreach phase, while the school starting in September 2007 will be involved in an evangelistic project based in the North of Peru and nearby regions.

Requirements

Before you can go on the outreach, you need to have passed the theoretical part of the school and have paid for it completely (see the information on prices for more details).

Evangelizing in Peru

Evangelizing in the streets

Paying for the outreach before you leave is not always a requirement, however you will of course need to pay for at least your first leg of travel. Whether you are able to go with only enough money for this first part of the outreach will be a decision that the director of the DTS school will make.

What will we be doing?

This question is very difficult to answer because every outreach is different. We can tell you that you will be going to a number of different places and that in every place you will be doing something different. Beyond that it is hard to say.

Using creative methods to evangelize in the streets

There are some common things that is generally likely that you will be doing during your outreach. These include evangelism, working with children, preaching (for some of you), visiting members of a church or family and friends of members, and physical work such as cleaning and building, etc.

Some of the other activities that teams have been involved in also include hiking through the mountains for hours to reach a small village, teaching on radio stations, television interviews, visiting politicians, being part of an indigenous ceremony, working with evangelistic campaigns, teaching in schools, and much more. There are always surprises during your outreach.
