The Base Itself

Our current base property in “The Quintas”
For a long time the base leaders looked for the right opportunity to move from the rented church building in Moreno 326. They were looking for a larger premises, that would better serve as a base which was growing and that would be good for the development of the schools and activities that were planned and currently underway.
“Las Acacias 2500″, situated away from the city in the neighbourhood named “Quintas Del Mirador”, was the ideal property. Though left abandoned for many months it had previously been used as a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts, and so had been designed to accommodate larger numbers of people. When they saw it, Jorge and Isa believed that this was the place that God wanted them to use for their base of operations.

The entry to the base
For many months the property remained vacant, so when it came up for sale Jorge and Isa started discussions with the owner about their desire to use it as a YWAM base. At the end of it all, after three other attempts by others to buy it that each fell through an agreement was reached to “rent with the option of buying”.

Youth with a Mission (YWAM)
YWAM is a Christian, missionary organization that is international and interdenominational. It was founded in 1960 by a young American, Loren Cunningham with the focus of equipping, preparing and mobilizing youth around the world to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in integrity and to make disciples to the ends of the earth.

Our goal is “to know God and make Him known”
Today there are more than 15,000 full time workers working in more than 800 centers in over 140 countries around the world. In addition to this, there are somewhere around 50,000 people in the schools and training courses that YWAM runs.
The Three Principal Activities of YWAM are
Evangelism – to make believers and disciples of all nations.
Mercy Ministries – showing the love of God to the people in a practical way.
Training – to teach and equip all people, in all things spiritual and practical.

Teaching the church of Peru
And it is not just for the young: one of YWAM’s strengths is in bringing together people of all ages, nations, languages, cultures, denominations, social backgrounds for the common cause of lifting up the Name of Jesus.
If anyone wants to be a part of YWAM or study in the schools, the first step is the DTS.
